Circular route around the village
A circular route taking in lovely views around Horsmonden and Brenchley, Marle Place and several traditional public houses.
A suggested itinerary is to finish your morning tour in Horsmonden in time for lunch in the Village.
You can start anywhere on the route!
Cycle Steps
START: Horsmonden Heath (village green) by the Gun & Spitroast pub.
HEAD EAST: Take the Goudhurst Road past the Old Station and pick up the route at Capel Cross.
TURN LEFT: Take Grovehurst Lane on your left.
Follow the road to the left when you reach Grovehurst just after Grovehurst Fishing Lake TURN LEFT.
Descend down Haymans Hill towards Rams Hill where you TURN RIGHT at the junction of Maidstone Road.
CONTINUE down Maidstone Road passing Yew Tree Green Road and Rams Hill for Mowers and then TURN LEFT on to Churn Lane.
Follow Churn Lane until you reach Pearson’s Green. TURN LEFT in to Pearson’s Green Lane and uphill to Castle Hill.
TURN RIGHT by The Castle pub and go along Crooke Road past the view point and on past the crossroads.
OPTION 1: If you want to visit the centre of Brenchley you can TURN LEFT here and TURN RIGHT at Brenchley Church and pick up the route at the Memorial Hall.
OPTION 2: Carry on down Blind Mans Lane and TURN RIGHT with the Memorial Hall in front of you.
Carry on past the Brenchley School and take the NEXT LEFT to Petteridge down Petteridge Lane. passing the Hopbine pub.
TURN LEFT at Tibbs Court Lane and on to Tong Road bearing to the right.
TURN LEFT at Marle Place Road passing Marle Place. Onwards to RIGHT TURN at Ruck Lane after which you will cross Lamberhurst Road.
Onwards to Spelmonden Road and TURN LEFT at Rectory Park Road following the sign to Horsmonden Church. Follow the road to the RIGHT and head to the church.
Once you have finished at St. Margaret’s Church TURN RIGHT when you leave it into Brick Kiln Lane.
When you reach Goudhurst Road TURN LEFT before returning to Capel Cross. and onwards towards Horsmonden Heath and the Gun & Spitroast pub where you started.
