Garrett 34461, PM 4795, 3/1924, Victoria
In 1924 Richard Garrett & Sons Ltd of Leiston, Suffolk produced engine works no. 34461, registration PM 4795, type T, compound cylinder, 7-ton engine with a HP of 4, known as Victoria.
Victoria was part of the famous Lambert Steam Engine auction of June 1955 and lot 413 Victoria sold to Donovan Eastwood of Grovehurst Farm in Horsmonden who took over part of the business previously run by Chris Lambert. Don expanded the number of engines and carried on with the transportation of sand and ballast.
The engine passed to Don’s son John who followed in his father’s footsteps and collected more engines.
