Introduction to the new NOSTALGIA Facebook Group
During the summer, John Freeman, whose family history in the village dates back over 80 years, who was also born and bred in Horsmonden, decided to embark on a nostalgia mission. His memories trail took him to almost every part of the village which finished with a series of Horsmonden Facebook group posts containing over 300 images; a pictorial record of buildings, places, views and memories of his earlier days in the village. The response was remarkable and further fired his passion for Horsmonden history, memories and nostalgia, and to enable a wider sharing of nostalgia and contribution by others.
As the administrator of both the Horsmonden village website and Facebook group I was looking for some content similar to that which John had posted on facebook, for the village website. We discussed some ideas to develop content on the website and also a new HISTORY, MEMORIES & NOSTALGIA Facebook group for sharing and preserving those memories for all to enjoy and for future generations as well. As a result of our discussions we have introduced the new Facebook group and John will be involved in facilitating the development of the Nostalgia Facebook page including additional pages in the history section of the Horsmonden website for a variety of local history subjects around the village’s development.
The most important people in this venture are those who live in or have connections with the village and we look forward to you taking part, your contributions, sharing and help in making this a success.
