U3A meets in Goudhurst but also covers the surrounding parishes with the intention of bringing friendship, knowledge and fun to retired and semi-retired people. There are monthly talks, various Interest Groups meet informally and Outings are arranged.
Next Monthly Talk
Wednesday, 16th September, 2.30 p.m. in Goudhurst Parish Hall, is entitled “Tales of a Scotland Yard Detective” by Steve Roberts, former Detective Inspector with the Metropolitan Police Service. For 30 years Steve Roberts served with the Flying Squad, the Murder Squad, Anti-Corruption Command and the Kidnap Unit. He will cover different aspects of investigations into major armed robberies and kidnaps, supported by personal anecdotes, and his first detective role with a crime called “Jump Ups” in London’s East End. Non-members welcome – £2.50.

Outings
On 7th September there is a second opportunity to visit the Houses of Parliament at the invitation of Greg Clark M.P. A visit to Bletchley Park, home of WW2 Code Breaking, is planned for 13th October. Next is the acclaimed performance of The Nutcracker by the Russian State Ballet in Tunbridge Wells on 10th November. In 2016 there is a tour of the BBC in London in January and a second chance to visit the Romney Marsh Churches in March.

Nearly twenty small Groups meet throughout the month covering a wide range of subjects and more are planned.
